Urasa Station

The tourist information centre MYU, located in the concourse of Urasa Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen, offers information on the attractions of Uonuma and Minami Uonuma cities. You can enjoy coffee and gelato, and also rent a bicycle.

Seifukuji Temple Kaisando

Located next to the main hall, the interior and exterior of Kaizando is filled with works by Ishikawa Uncho, who is known as the Michelangelo of Japan. The ceiling of the hall is decorated with an extremely coloured, openwork carving, "Zen Master Dogen's Choping of a Fierce Tiger", which is particularly noteworthy.

Osaki Takitani fresh water

The fresh water springs from the grounds of the Ohsaki Shrine, located at the foot of Mount Hakkaisan. A water drawing station at the foot of the stairs leading to the grounds of the Ohsaki Shrine, where an abundance of water gushes out, has also become a popular spot.

Uonuma no Sato

Hakkaisan is a facility based on the theme of 'food and snow culture', located in the satoyama at the foot of Mount Hakkaisan. Hakkaisan Snow Chamber, where visitors can observe snow chamber storage, soba noodle shops, confectionary shops, cafés and many other spots are dotted around the vast site.

Sushi Restaurant Sushioka

Famous for its chirashizushi with large portions. Despite its impressive appearance, the prices are reasonable and the cosmopolitan. Lunch is only chirashi-zushi, with a choice of small, medium, medium or large portions of rice, at the same price.
