The Snow Country Uonuma Golden Cycle Route is a wide-area cycling route linking Yuzawa Town, Minami Uonuma City and Uonuma City. The course consists of the Kita-uonuma stage, the Minamiuonuma stage and the Saguri River Dam stage. It is approximately 193 km long, and is an attractive course that allows cyclists to experience the unique seasonal changes of nature in the snow country, as well as the culture and climate of the snow country scattered throughout the region.

Name

Snow Country" represents one of the country's heaviest snowfall areas, "Uonuma" is a reference to the aim of further wide-area cooperation, and "Golden" is a reference to the landscape of Uonuma being covered in golden ears of Koshihikari rice and the desire to make it one of Japan's leading cycling routes.

Logo

The three circles in the logo design represent 'snowflakes' and 'mountain ranges', while the infinity mark represents 'bicycle wheels' and the 'cycle route' connecting the North and South Uonuma stages.
To make it easier to recognise from a distance, the name was taken from the initials of 'Golden Cycle Route' and simply expressed as 'GCR'.
