'Status report on the construction of arrow feather-type road surface markings in snowy and cold areas on the snowy Uonuma Golden Cycle Route'.
The Snowy Uonuma Golden Cycle Route, Niigata Prefecture's first model route for promoting cycle tourism, is located in a special heavy snowfall area based on the Act on Special Measures Concerning Heavy Snowfall Areas. In such snowy and cold areas, road surface markings are more likely to disappear due to snow removal work and vehicles wearing tyre chains than due to the abrasion caused by automobile traffic.
Various methods of constructing arrow-feather road surface markings will be tested, and while continuing to monitor changes over time due to the effects of snow removal and the construction method based on the road environment and frequency of snow removal, the optimal construction method will be studied for the method of improving traffic space as the basis for cycle tourism utilising bicycles.
